Overview

Gerringong is a vibrant little coastal village perched on a hilltop setting overlooking the deep blue expanse of Werri Beach below. You’ll find a quaint town loaded with a contemporary collection of cafes, restaurants, homewares and fashions stores, galleries, stunning wineries and even a microbrewery. It has become a popular getaway destination where you can stay in premier holiday accommodation, enjoying all of the above and even participate in unique workshops or relaxing retreats that you will find on offer. Exploring the rock platforms, having picnics, swimming laps in the rock pool – the original ladies bathing pool from the 1900s and fishing from the gorgeous Boat Harbour are all favourite pastimes of the locals and visitors alike. Gerringong is the southernmost point where the Illawarra escarpment tumbles to the sea. Your back drop is the well-known Saddleback Mountain and grassy paddocks filled with gentle dairy cattle.

The 2016 census told us that Gerringong had a population just shy of 4,000 with just over 1,600 dwellings. We anticipate to see a significant increase in the 2021 census results with an influx of city residence now calling Gerringong home.
